Many people have suffered Sexual Abuse in their childhoods
and later on in life and mainly in silence. As a child, we are too frightened
and ashamed to tell our parents or too frightened that the Abuser might further
hurt us. When we are older, it is sometimes equally difficult to talk about
being raped or being forced to have sex when we didn’t want to by a
stranger, colleague at work or a member of our family. Sexual abuse comes
in many guises but in all cases it is never acceptable and leaves us with
emotional difficulties around our own sexuality, having sex and forming intimate
relationships.
What is Sexual Abuse Counselling?
Sexual abuse counselling allows you to talk about the distressing events that
happened in the past or present in a safe, confidential and sympathetic space.
Our Counsellors will gently help you come to terms with what happened to you,
to release the difficult feelings around your abuse in a contained and safe
way, allowing you to gradually heal and find ways to establish better sexual
and emotional relationships. We can help and support you so that you don’t
have to struggle alone with the distress and difficulties your abuse has caused
you.
. To be able to talk about what has been kept secret
